Arts and Crafts Fun for All Ages That Will Keep You Entertained for Hours

Arts and Crafts Ideas for Kids and Adults

Maybe you are looking for a new hobby, arts and crafts to entertain your children or possibly looking for a new business idea that involves your crafty side, here are a few that I have gotten into in the past number of years that I have found to be enjoyable with links and tips to help you to get started.

Custom Greeting Cards

Instead of going to the grocery store and buying generic greeting cards with generic sayings I decided to start designing and making my own to give to people so I could write what I wanted on the inside and be a bit more personal. I would use blank 5x7 cards made out of heavy cardstock and would do ink drawings and calligraphy on the cover and then later using blockprint so I could make the cards again if I wanted.

If you were wanting to do block printing for the cards so you could make the same ones over, these are what I used. It took a bit too get good at this but was nice because I could use the block print rubber over again. Remember when you are carving the block print that you need to carve in the negative so the ink shows up in the positive. The ink adheres to rubber so whatever is carved will show up as whatever color card is.

LEGOS for Children and Adults

As a kid I enjoyed Legos and as an adult I still do so I had to include this. The nice thing about Legos is the wide range of difficulty in the sets from beginner to advanced. I am always collecting new sets!

Arts and Crafts Kits for Kids

Rock Painting Kit

We go camping quite a bit during the summers and sometimes the kids need something else to do and usually rocks are in abundance around the campsites so the glow in the dark rock painting kit gets pulled out and the kids can see what they have painted when the sun goes down.

Slime Kit

This was something my older nieces really enjoyed. It reminded me of when we would make our own play dough back in the day out of corn starch, baking soda, water and throwing in some food coloring to add some color. This looks way more fun, probably because it is slime and apparently kids love slime!

Oil, Acrylic and Water Painting

Painting is a classic and very relaxing. Oddly enough I learned to paint by myself through trial and error while watching college football on Saturdays. I am still learning. I would suggest for younger ages starting with watercolor and as skills progress to acrylic then onto oil. You do not need an easel but will add a link for an adjustable tabletop easel if you would like to get one. Also, acrylic painting can be done on a wide array of materials such as paper, fabric and canvas. When cleaning your brushes read and follow instructions for using and store them properly.
